Santiago Cabrera
Biography
Santiago Cabrera is best known for his breakthrough role in NBC's Emmy and Golden Globe-nominated series, Heroes.
Most recently, Cabrera starred as Joseph Bachman on HBO's miniseries Big Little Lies opposite Reese Witherspoon, CBS' Salvation, and Mindy Kaling's The Mindy Show. On the movie side, Cabrera most recently starred in Pablo Larrain's musical drama Ema alongside Gael Garcia Bernal and Transformers: The Last Knight opposite Mark Wahlberg and Josh Duhamel.
Other television credits include BBC's Musketeers, Empire, Merlin, Dexter, Spooks, Judge John Deed, Falcon, and Anna Karenina.
Domestic and international movie credits include Haven, Love & Other Disasters, Che, For Greater Glory, Hemingway & Gellhorn, and Meant to Be. Cabrera played the lead role in Matías Bize's La vida de los peces (The Life of Fish), which premiered at the Venice Film Festival in 2010. The film went on to earn a Spanish Goya Award for "Best Film" and Cabrera picked up a "Best Actor" Award at Chile's Altazor (Chilean equivalent of BAFTA Awards).
Also, Cabrera has a developed theatre background. He trained at London's Drama Centre from 2000-2003 and went on to rehearsals for a Northampton theatre production of Othello, directed by Rupert Goold. In 2008, Cabrera returned to the stage for Theatre of Memory's production of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet at Middle Temple Hall, in which he played the title role of Romeo opposite Juliet Rylance as Juliet.
Although Cabrera considers Santiago, Chile his hometown, he splits his time between London and Los Angeles.
