About Hood Adjacent with James Davis

Comic/writer James Davis ventures back to where he was born and raised, adjacent to the projects of South Central Los Angeles, to explore contemporary urban topics and share his comedic thoughts on the world he grew up in and the world he grew up next to. What defines the "hood," and why is it only glamorized or villainized by the media? Using a combination of stand-up bits and unscripted field segments, Davis — who says he was often the only black kid in his circle of white friends while growing up — investigates the space between cultures and levels of privilege.
