He and Scoop head off to clear a road, leaving Muck and Lofty to help Farmer Pickles. Pilchard climbs a storm-blasted tree, which she brings crashing down onto the pond, right beside a duck's nest laden full of ducklings. Travis Paints The Town

S1 E2
Apr 19, 1999
Whilst Bob, Muck and Roley are finishing work on a new section of road, Bob is preparing to paint on the white lines that go down the middle. Suddenly Bob gets called away to Mrs. Potts to fix her fence. While he is away, Spud the mischievous Scarecrow has attached the line-marking machine to Travis and told him that Farmer Pickles needs him urgently. As Travis sets off down the lane at full speed he unwittingly trails a wiggly white line behind him. Roley gives chase to warn Travis what's happening but can't catch him. As Roley races past Farmer Pickles hitches a lift and alerts Bob to what's going on on his mobile phone. Bob and Muck give chase racing back along the lanes one way as Roley and Farmer Pickles go in the other. Disaster is narrowly averted when they speed round the converging lanes and almost crash into each other.

Bob Saves The Hedgehogs

S1 E3
Apr 26, 1999
Bob and gang are working on the road near Farmer Pickles field. Just as Roley is about to flatten some loose chippings, Bob spots some unexpected traffic on the road - a family of hedgehogs! Luckily Bob and Scoop manage to get Roley's attention before disaster strikes. Later that day the hedgehogs return - Bob and the gang decide that the hedgehogs need a subway so they can cross the road in safety. Muck takes the Hedeghogs back to the Yard to keep them out of harms way. The hedgehogs cause quite a fuss and Pilchard gets just a little too close. Bob and gang soon complete the subway and the grateful Hedgehogs wander off in safety.

Pilchard In A Pickle

S1 E4
May 10, 1999
Bob and the gang have got a big job on - repairing some pipework in Farmer Pickles field. They set off, with Travis the Tractor carrying the new pipes. Back at the Yard, Wendy has got Pilchard's breakfast ready for her. She looks everywhere, but the cat is nowhere to be found - not surprising, because she was fast asleep in one of the pipes that Travis is carrying! Bob and the gang work hard laying the pipes despite distractions from Spud, Farmer Pickles naughty scarecrow. Still slumbering Pilchard gets whirled this way and that as Lofty the crane manoeuvres the pipe...but the cool cat escapes unscathed, and settles down in Scoop's front bucket for a further nap. By the time Bob and gang return, Wendy's really panicking but the crisis is over when Wendy spots Pilchard safe and sound in Scoop's front bucket.

Muck Gets Stuck

So far so good but Bob's old generator breaks down, the light fails and Muck is left stranded. Now we find that there's only one thing that big bold Muck is afraid of and that's the dark! Bob and Lofty both try to talk Muck round, but the usually tough machine is petrified. He can't move! Eventually it's Pilchard who saves the day - her ghost-like miaowing is scarier than the dark, and Muck suddenly decides he can move after all! Safely back in the Yard, Muck regales the others with a highly exaggerated tale of ghostly goings-on.

Spud decides being a Scarecrow is too much like hard work - he wants a different job! When he finds Bob's toolbox lying in the road, he has an idea. He is going to be a builder - just like Bob. He persuades Lofty to become his builder's mate - after all, every builder needs a Machine to help him. After fixing some window frames in Farmer Pickles cottage, Spud decides to mend the barn roof. When Bob discovers his toolbox is missing and Muck sees Spud and Lofty with it, they put two and two together and rush to the cottage to stop Spud before he hurts himself. Too late - Spud has moved on, leaving a very crooked set of window frames. With no way of knowing where Spud has got to, Bob abandons the search for the naughty Scarecrow and sorts out the window frames for Farmer Pickles.

Travis And Scoop's Race Day

S1 E8
Jun 05, 1999
In the hot sun, Scoop and Roley are carrying out repairs to the country lane. Travis and Spud are lounging in the shady tree, watching them work and teasing them for it. The teasing leads to Spud persuading Scoop and Travis to have a race that day to prove who is the fastest. Back at the farm, Travis is worried - he'll never beat Scoop. Spud tells him not to worry, he has a plan. Bob and Muck set up the race course as Spud spies on them. The race starts - Travis and Scoop race around the roads of the area with everyone cheering them on. Bob, on the Barn roof, provides racing commentary as they go. Spud sneakily obstructs Scoop's path with various objects. Despite his efforts his sabotage fails and Scoop triumphs. As Spud complains about Travis not winning, his sack of sabotage gear falls over and his cheating is discovered. Spud backs away from the machines making excuses for his behaviour and falls into the pond. There is much merriment when he emerges with a duck on his head!

Bob's Bugle

S1 E9
Jun 07, 1999
PARP! Whilst Bob is doing a bit of plumbing work he discovers some pipes that make a noise a bit like a trumpet. Bob thinks they sound exactly like a trumpet and proceeds to construct his Bugle. It sounds awful but Bob insists on practising into the early hours. None of the machines have the heart to tell Bob how awful his trumpet sounds so they try to hide it without much success. It's eventually Roley who comes to the rescue - he accidentally rolls over the trumpet. Although Bob is upset at first he is delighted when Wendy thinks they sound just like wind chimes and will be perfect for a housewarming present for her friends.

Meanwhile Wendy gets on with baking the Birthday cake. Dizzy and Muck seeing how easily Wendy mixes together the ingredients decide they should also make Bob a cake - a concrete cake, but it's not as easy as they think! Everyone helps to get the party organised - even greedy Spud helps put the candles on the cake after Wendy discovers him trying to steal a slice. When the 'forgotten' Bob returns to the Yard his eyes soon light up when he sees his Birthday surprise and not one but TWO cakes!

But back at the Yard, Bob gets some bad news - Mavis has sprained her ankle! It looks as though Bob will have to pull out - until Wendy suggests that she might stand in for Mavis. Whilst Bob and Wendy are dancing the night away, back at the yard the machines with the help of Pilchard decide to have their own line dancing session. Of course Buffalo Bob and Western Wendy return home the triumphant winners. Yeehah!

Runaway Roley

S1 E13
Jun 18, 1999
After a particularly hard day at work digging a trench, Bob and the Machines retire for the night and a well deserved sleep. The following morning Roley - still asleep - begins to roll out of the yard. Roley 'sleep rolls' towards Spud's field where he nearly runs over Travis. Bird (Roley's ever faithful friend) flies off in search of help. Meanwhile, back at the yard, the team discover that Roley is missing. Bird arrives and tells them that Roley is heading towards Town. Bob, Wendy and the Machines rush off to find him and guide him home. Roley trundles along, leaving a trail of destruction in his wake. Bob and Scoop spot him heading towards the trench they dug the day before. Luckily, Bob manages to build a makeshift bridge across it just in time for Roley to cross safely. Back at the yard Roley wakes up. He just can't understand why everyone looks so tired. After all he was the one who was 'working his rollers off' yesterday!
